1879 - Sir Sanford Fleming first proposes Universal Standard Time (February 14, 2017)

150 Years Of Canada


On February 8, 1879, Sir Sanford Fleming proposes Universal Standard Time at a meeting at the Royal Canadian Institute. Eventually, Fleming's plan becomes adopted throughout the world. Fleming was 52 years old at the time.
