1914 - Canada Declares War on Germany and Enters World War I



On August 4, 1914 Canada joins the United Kingdom in declaring war on Germany. By the end of the war on November 11, 1918, Canada truly becomes an independent nation, no longer being dependent on Great Britain for its foreign policy.

A Great War (WWI) recruitment poster in French targeting French Canadians. In spite of posters such as this,  there was some resistance in the French-Canadian community towards participating in this war.
