1919 - The Winnipeg General Strike of 1919

Between May 15 and June 15, the most significant labour strike in Canadian history took place in Winnipeg. Due to the inflation caused by World War I and the return of hundreds of thousands Canadian soldiers from Europe, prices had become unaffordable for most workers. Wanting to improve their wages and working conditions, unions created the "One Big Union". By May 15, the Winnipeg General Strike took place with tens of thousands of protestors marching.
