1892 - The Toronto Star is Founded (Originally, the "Evening Star" (February 27, 2017)

In 1892, the precursor to the Toronto Star is founded. Originally named the Evening Star and founded by striking writers and printers of the Toronto News. Many famous writers wrote for the Toronto Star, including the American Ernest Hemingway.

Many have been inspired by the Toronto Star story, including the Toronto born illustrator Joe Shuster who co-created Superman in Cleveland in 1938. Superman, you may remember (actually, Clark Kent), was employed by the Daily Star, an obvious reference to the Toronto Daily Star.
